FIRST FAMILY ROAD TRIP (of 4) SUCCESS
Well y’all. We did it. We conquered our first family road trip with both toddlers! We honestly had a grand time. Yes, it was wild and yes, there were a few low points but overall, it was so much fun! It definitely gave us confidence in embracing the crazy along with the fever for more road trips! I would say just my ability to admit that means it was a win/win.
My hopes and dreams for visiting the Ozark’s during peak autumn didn’t quite pan out as we were too early for much fall foliage. But, would do it again. Maybe next time, we will shoot for a trip in early-mid November.
Here is the general recap of what we did/where we went :
Overall we logged roughly 1,200 miles in our Subaru Outback
Stayed in 2 hotels, 3 Airbnb’s collectively
Played at about 5 million public parks
The first night was spent in Paris, Texas
Second night in Fayetteville, Arkansas
Third and fourth nights in Harrison, Arkansas
Fifth and sixth nights in Ponca, Arkansas
Seventh night in McKinney, Texas
Our Airbnb for the nights in Harrison was a farmhouse dream come true. Would definitely go back there! Our cabin in the Ozark’s was also a dream but unfortunately, a huge storm was rolling through so almost 100% of the time we were there in Ponca, it was raining on our heads. We had planned on doing most of our hiking those days which was a huge bummer but we did still manage to go on a few hikes, see some waterfalls, a little bit of the fall foliage that was there and we cozied up in the cabin with hot chocolate and a fire all other times!
